Us real estate company 3Strands has announced the sale of its first 3D-printed home in the US, its first residential project in Austin, Texas. The housing development, built by Architecture technology firm ICON and designed by Logan Architecture, features two-story villas with two to four rooms each.

"We want to change the way we build, the way we own and the way we live together in our communities," says Gary O 'Dell, co-founder and CEO of 3Strands. This project represents a major step forward, pushing the boundaries of new technology.

    02     Build process

According to 3Strands' website, the residences were built using the Vulcan building system and took less than a week to complete. The first floor of the house is 3D-printed using ICON's "advanced materials", which have good performance against fire, water, wind erosion and other natural disasters. Except for the 3D printed part, most are fully prefabricated components.

The house features a minimalist design with front porch and parking. The interior features natural wood, metal finishes and earth-colored tiles.
